Initially the homeowner may be aware of a slight reduction in the intensity of light coming into their homes compared to the old windows. When sunlight is coming directly through windows in which clear glass has been replaced with low-e glass, most people say that the low-e is more comfortable because they feel less heat and glare from the sun. An insulating glass unit with Solarban® 60 solar control low-e glass transmits about 13 percent less visible light than an insulating unit with all uncoated clear glass, and about 48 percent less total solar energy.

Should homeowners consider PPG low-e glass in some windows and not others?

What Is Powder Coating?

The powder coating process uses a solvent free dry mix of plastic resins, pigments and fillers that melt and fuse together when heated. The solid particles of coating are electrostatically charged in a spray gun and carried by low velocity air to the surface of the piece to be coated. The electrostatic charge holds the powder particles in place while the part is cured in a 400-degree oven. The heat of the oven causes a chemical reaction to occur and the powder to cure, creating a highly durable finish.

Why is my bedroom window covered in moisture early in the morning?

This question is often asked by homeowners who have highly energy-efficient windows. This condition usually occurs in late summer and early fall when the night time temperatures drops several degrees.

The moisture on the outside of the window is condensation. It will soon evaporate when outside temperatures rises. As we know, condensation happens on cold surfaces.
